10 Makeup Tips for Acne-Prone Skin
Whether to wear makeup for acne can be one of the biggest mysteries plaguing the beauty world. While some of us may think that makeup helps hide red acne breakouts, others worry that using foundation and concealer could actually make acne worse. Therefore, the most important thing when deciding whether to use acne cosmetics is to find effective, lightweight products that will not aggravate the rash and still cover it well. Most foundations and concealers don't apply smoothly to pimples and pimples, and in turn, make them look worse! Thus, the key is to find the right products and use them in the best possible way. Here are some tips if you have acne-prone skin and still love to wear makeup.
1. Don't skimp on proper skin care. When applying
makeup for acne, the right base is very important. Make sure you start with
clear skin. Don't skip toner and moisturizer. Choose a super hydrating (but
oil-free) moisturizer to fight dry spots or flakiness caused by acne.
Recommendation: Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisturizer SPF 15
2. Use an oil-free primer before applying makeup. If you have acne-prone skin, it is a good idea to apply a good primer before applying makeup as it will serve as a barrier between your skin and the rest of your makeup. The primer also acts as a canvas, helps to apply foundation evenly, and prolongs makeup. There are many makeup primers today that contain acne-fighting ingredients such as willow bark, salicylic acid, tea tree oil, hyaluronic acid, etc. Our offerings: Dr. Brandt Pore No More Refiner Primer, Coverfox matting primer with acne treatment.
3. Choose a very light, oil-free foundation. The
next step is to find a suitable foundation. Getting the perfect color
combination is key. Anything too light or too dark will only lead to acne.
Choose a lightweight, oil-free formula.
Recommended: Maybelline New York Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation
4. Apply in thin coats with a light hand. You might be tempted to apply thick layers of foundation to cover up pimples, but this is where most people get it wrong. The key to a natural and hidden look is applying foundation in very thin layers with a light hand. Use a beauty blender for a more natural result. Don't try to hide too much with foundation. The foundation should only match your skin tone. Recommendation: Beauty Blender Sponge
5. Use a color corrector: If there is too much redness and inflammation on the skin, let the color corrector come to your aid. Apply green concealer to areas where you need to fight redness. Recommendation: Urban Decay Color Correcting Liquid for Bare Skin.
6. Choose a Full Cover SPF Concealer: Apply Full Cover Concealer to the correct color. As I mentioned earlier, don't apply a thick product all over your face. Focus on hiding blemishes for a more natural look. Make sure the concealer you choose provides sun protection. You don't want to exacerbate acne by exposing it to sunlight.
7. Distract yourself from the breakout area.
Suppose you have a lot of rashes on your cheeks, then it is important to note
that you need to take a break from this area. Avoid products like blush,
bronzer, and highlighter that are actually designed to draw attention to your
cheeks. If you have acne on your cheeks, focus on dramatizing your eyes (try
winged eyeliner or smoky eyes, perhaps) or any other facial features.
Recommended.
8. Choose Oily, Shiny, or Dark Lips: If you don't have pimples around your mouth, choosing oily, shiny, or dark lips is great makeup advice for those suffering from breakouts. Take your attention away from your skin and make your lips speak completely. However, when using bright lip colors, make sure you hide the skin properly. Recommendation: NARS Velvet Matte Lipstick in Cruella.
9. Use a make-up setting spray: A good make-up setting spray will help prevent shine and oil on your face. Our offer.
10. Try the Jammu method. This is a popular Korean
makeup technique that keeps oily skin matte and non-greasy all day long. Here are more details on how you can test this method.
