Helpful Tips for Wearing Makeup If You Have Acne
When you're having acne problems, you're worried that makeup builds up in your pores, exacerbating the acne. But it turns out that you can wear makeup when you have acne.
As makeup artist Bobby Brown said in her book The Beauty of Bobby Brown, "Dermatologists who recommend not using makeup are usually men."
The right makeup will help your skin look flawless. And in many ways, the way we look is the result of what we feel inside. We firmly believe that if you are confident that your acne is fairly well hidden under concealer and foundation, then your confidence will radiate your look. To help you, here are some tips for applying makeup for acne.
The right foundation is the key to success
The best foundation for women with acne is oil-free. You can use a tinted moisturizer (Laura Mercier's favorite) or any type of creamy foundation, just make sure the packaging clearly states it is oil-free. Oil-based foundations will only turn your already oily skin into a mess.
Concealer scoop
Some beauty experts (including Bobby Brown) insist that you only need a foundation that matches your skin to hide acne, while others suggest using a concealer that matches your skin tone exactly to hide blemishes. ... We say it's up to you to decide. If you don't want to buy both, try the basic trick first. If there isn't enough coverage, use the concealer in half. Just be sure to use products that exactly match your skin tone, otherwise, the dot in your pimple will look like a bull's eye.
How to hide a pimple
Concealer alone will not cover your pimple. Concealer tends to wear off rather quickly. So what will work? Find out in my article "How to hide a pimple".
Don't forget your moisturizer (or foundation)
It seems counterintuitive to use a moisturizer when you have acne, but acne treatments and remedies can dry out your skin and cause a dry surface and flaky skin won't look good.
We recommend using a moisturizer with SPF before applying foundation. Or at least use the foundation. Both help the base slide smoothly.
Never stop brushing your skin at night
If you have acne problems and wear makeup, never stop peeling that makeup off at night.
Wash your brushes and sponges often.
To prevent acne bacteria from forming, it is very
important to clean your makeup brushes and sponges frequently.
