How to Apply Makeup while You Have Acne
Applying makeup on pimples may seem like a problem, but it isn't necessary. Some cosmetics can clog pores and cause more severe breakouts, but knowing which makeup to use and how to use it can make your skin look healthier, smoother, and more natural. Cleanse your skin before applying makeup. Applying
makeup on pimples begins with a preliminary skin preparation. Clean, smooth, and
hydrated skin creates a healthy complexion. [2] Wash your face thoroughly with
warm water and rinse your face to remove dirt and impurities from your skin.
Wash only your hands, not a washcloth, to avoid excessive exfoliation, which can cause severe skin irritation and acne.
Remove flakes to create a smooth surface. It is difficult to apply foundation on flaky skin. If the remover hasn't removed all the flakes, simply try sticking the skin with duct tape to gently remove the flakes.
Then apply a non-greasy moisturizer. Lightly apply a non-greasy moisturizer all over your face. On flaky areas, apply a small amount to your ring finger and leave for 5 minutes before continuing with your makeup.
Create an even base. Acne scars and pimples can create an uneven surface that draws attention to problem areas when exposed to light. Use a silicone base to smooth and fill in fine lines.
Apply a very thin layer of foundation. To avoid
baking, use clean bare hands and lightly touch the transparent base. [6]
Overloading the skin with too many layers will block pores, stimulate breakouts, and actually accentuate skin texture and acne.
Choose the right foundation shade for your skin by choosing the two shades that most closely match your skin tone, apply them to the jawline and compare them in an outdoor mirror under natural light. [7] Match the tone of your foundation to your neck so that your face and body are the same color.
Only use concealer on pimples. Apply a small
amount of concealer to each stain and lightly touch it with your ring finger
until it blends into your base. [9] Apply concealer all over your face and it
looks cool. Let your healthy skin glow by using concealer only when needed.
You want to distract attention from pimples, and covering the pimple with a light concealer will really make it stand out. Use a concealer that is slightly darker than your foundation, but will blend in.
Sprinkle lightly with powder if you have oily skin. Otherwise, take some blotting paper with you to gently remove excess oil without smudging your makeup throughout the day.
Covers acne discoloration and scars with color correctors. Paint over each scar with a color corrector, then touch it with your ring finger to blend it. For example, green counteracts red, so a green-tinted concealer can hide redness from acne. Deeper peach, tangerine and orange tones are good at neutralizing acne scars.
Distract attention by highlighting other features.
Use eyeliner, eyeshadow, mascara, blush, or lipstick to highlight and create
focal points around your eyes, lips or cheeks and draw attention away from
problem areas. [fourteen]
If you have a blemish on your chin or cheeks, focus on
eye makeup. Avoid glitter or glossy lipstick as this will draw attention to
your lips.
If you have a pimple on your forehead or upper cheek, a
bold lip tint will draw attention to the lower part of your face.
